Ice cream, ice cream , i scream ice cream
Check out these neat mint condition ice cream wrappers from the 1950's. These were found in a warehouse in L.A.
I bought them from Shine Gallery in The Farmers Market in L.A.
Its been a long time since i have seen stuff this old in mint condition.
They bring back memories of the Drive in days at the snack bar when ice cream was sold in little blocks and then hand packed into these little packets. Can't get much more retro than this.
These wrappers are also from the days when the Ice Cream truck could be heard blocks away and when kids actually played in the street and in their front yards.
Ice Cream van drivers wore immaculate crisp starched white jackets and those little paper hats that looked like Marine corps berets. The ice cream always tasted out of this World and ice cream bought from Supermarkets never ever tasted the same.
We keep getting told that its all about the present and on towards the future. The stock market is going to crap, Europe is in free fall, prices are out control, food tastes like card board and life is instant, fast and not necessary better then the 50'60s or 70s.
Don't get me wrong, i love big screen telly's, Internet, i-phones, i-pads, mobile phones etc but i do dig the memories of black and white telly, food from the 60s 70s and the fun of growing up in what seemed to me to be a more innocent time. I love reading comics from the 60's 70's and Archie's are my absolute fave. Jugheads and Archie's main focus away from girls was of course hanging out at Pops Choclit Shop eating ice cream sundaes and ice cream in these neat little packets..
Maybe i am dreaming and have a touch of the sun, but retro is in and by the hits i get on my website i may be on to some thing.
Please tell me i am not dreaming.
