Retro Coca Cola StuffI remember being in school in Australia in the early sixties and every 4 months a team of hip folk from Coca Cola would come out and do all these fab tricks with yo yos.

I have a pair of Retro 1972 Coca Cola Flares won in a Russell Yo Yo comp. They are in a frame and look so retro and funky, and what a collectable of that era.
An entrepreneur named Donald Duncan recognized the potential of this yo yos in the latre 20's and purchased the Flores Yo-yo Corporation and all its assets, including the Flores name, which was transferred to the new company in 1932. Duncan's first yo-yo thereafter was the Duncan O-BOY. Duncan is reputed to have paid more than $250,000, a fortune by depression era standards. It turned out to be a sound investment, making many times this amount in the years to follow.
In 1946, the Duncan Toys Company opened a yo-yo factory in Luck, Wisconsin, prompting the town to dub itself 'Yo-yo Capital of the World'.
The Duncan yo-yo was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong in Rochester, New York.
Yo yos made a huge comabck in the 60s and 70s and just about every famous person was seen with the famous Russel yo yos. WIth a series of retro and vintage television advertisements the media blitz was met with unprecedented success; thanks in great part to the introduction of the Duncan Butterfly and Russell yo yos , the yo-yo was more accessible to the beginner than ever.
Collecting stuff from the 60s and 70s really floats my boat and it brings back so many happy memeories of long summers of friends and fun.
